Court construction
Construction of courts for pickleball: designing
Send the site plan, dimensions and photos. We will check how many courts fit, what free zones, base, surface, lighting, nets and equipment are needed, then separate the sports and construction scopes.
Pickleball court dimensions are not the project’s total footprint
A standard court is 13,41 m long and 6,10 m wide. On each side of the net is a 2,13 m-deep kitchen. Real operation requires free space around the lines: players decelerate after wide balls, move behind the baseline, enter the court and leave after a round.
The project therefore starts with the full operating rectangle and then accounts for walkways, adjacent courts, spectators, referees, storage and technical zones.
Composition of the work
What we inspect and design
The base, lighting, walkways and storage affect daily operations as much as the lines do. We check them before purchasing and installation.
Site audit
We verify the actual dimensions, height, base, slopes, lighting, access, adjacent zones, storage and intended operating model.
Court circuit
We lay out 13,41 × 6,10 m playing rectangles, free zones, walkways, spectator and referee areas, and equipment storage points.
Base
We assess flatness, strength, slopes and drainage. Outdoors, we also account for precipitation, frost, heat and seasonal operation.
Coverage and marking
We select a system for indoor or outdoor use based on playing intensity, the existing base, grip requirements and maintenance.
Grids and racks
We choose portable or permanent solutions and check installation points and the convenience of daily setup or storage.
Lighting and fencing
We assess lighting uniformity, glare, nearby pedestrian flows, ball escape and fencing requirements.
Package
We calculate balls, paddles, baskets, training stock, consumables and storage based on the number of courts and products.
Installation and launch
We connect the construction work with future club operations: training, Open Play, tournaments, cleaning, storage and group changeovers.
How much does it cost to build a court for pickleball
Cost depends on the condition of the existing site. On a ready, level sports base, the project may be limited to lines, a net system and equipment. A site requiring a new base will also need preparation, surfacing, drainage, lighting, fencing, delivery and installation.
We divide the estimate into blocks: survey and design, base, surface, lighting, fencing, nets, equipment, delivery, installation and launch. This makes the cost of each decision visible and makes options easier to compare.
Site type
Temporary, combined or permanent court
Temporary
A portable net and temporary lines are suitable for an event, demand test, seasonal program or pilot on an existing site.
Combined
Pickleball lines are added to an existing sports court. The project needs a clear color scheme, net storage and rules for switching between sports.
Permanent
A dedicated venue is designed for regular training, rentals, Open Play and tournaments with long-term operation in mind.
Indoor and outdoor
Indoor and outdoor venues require different solutions
Clear height, columns, light fixtures, ventilation, acoustics, fire exits and adjacent zones.
Base, slopes, drainage, precipitation, temperature changes, sun, wind and seasonal maintenance.
Waiting areas, referees, spectators, warm-up, results, equipment and movement between courts.
Storage, fast group changeovers, coach access, equipment, cleaning and clear logistics for every court-hour.
What we check to estimate
- actual site dimensions and indoor clear height
- flatness and condition of the base
- slopes and drainage on an outdoor site
- grip and condition of the existing surface
- lighting layout and visual obstructions
- free zones around the playing lines
- walkways between courts and adjacent activities
- access for delivery and installation
- space for storing nets, balls and equipment
- space for players, spectators and coaches to wait
- noise and proximity to residential or quiet areas
- operating scenario: training, rental, Open Play, tournaments or events
A plan and photos are enough for the first discussion. For a permanent venue, the final solution is based on precise measurements and an inspection of the base.
How to plan multiple courts
The number of courts determines only part of capacity. In doubles, four players are on each court at the same time, while Open Play and tournaments add waiting participants, changeovers, hosts and referees.
For a multi-court layout, we define main walkways, waiting areas, storage, spectator zones and safe distances between parallel flows in advance. This affects daily operations more than a small saving of space on the plan.
What the client receives
The output should not be generic advice that “you can play here,” but decisions that can be built and purchased against: a layout, scope of work, requirements for the base and surface, net systems, lighting, storage and sports equipment.
If specialized contractors are needed for part of the work, the sports requirements are passed to them as inputs. PROpickleball connects the technical solution with the future use of the court.
- assessment of the original venue;
- court and flow layout plan;
- list of mandatory works
- requirements for the base, surface, lighting and net systems;
- equipment and inventory specification;
- separation of construction and sports work
- options for completing the budget
- launch plan for the sports program after installation.
Why sports requirements are needed before the final drawing
Training, Open Play, rental and tournaments use the same court differently. Before construction, it helps to know where the next group of four waits, where the coach keeps the ball basket, how groups change over, where portable nets go and where tournament results are recorded.
These details affect walkways, storage, power points, lighting, fencing and the convenience of daily operations.

DetailsWhat it takes to make the first calculation
At the first stage, there is enough initial data that affect the scope and format of the work
- town
- plan and actual dimensions
- indoor clear height
- photo of the base and adjacent areas
- planned number of courts
- operating mode: training, rental, Open Play, tournaments or events
If some of the information is not yet available, we will separately indicate the assumptions and what needs to be checked before the decision is approved
Timing and cost
The preliminary review starts after we receive the plan and photos. Project timing depends on the condition of the base, engineering work, equipment supply and contractor schedules. Stages and control dates are fixed before work begins.
We calculate cost after defining the scope of work. The estimate separately shows survey, design, base, surface, lighting, equipment, delivery, installation and launch.
Frequent questions
You can mark it up pickleball tennis-court?
Yes. We first check dimensions, free zones, the surface, the net system and shared-use rules. We then choose temporary, combined or permanent lines.
How many pickleball court is placed on a tennis court?
The number depends on the actual dimensions of the tennis court, fencing, walkways and safe zones. We calculate the layout from measurements of the specific site.
Is a venue with a low ceiling suitable?
Height affects lobs, defensive high balls and tournament comfort. Assessment requires the actual clear height and the positions of structures and light fixtures.
Can we start at the time court
Yes. A temporary setup is suitable for demand testing, a seasonal venue, a corporate event and testing the operating model.
Who carries out the construction work?
PROpickleball is responsible for sports requirements, the layout, equipment specification and alignment with future operations. Specialized construction work is carried out by an agreed contractor team.
Review a court or site
Send the city, dimensions, plan or photos, base type, desired number of courts and intended use. From this, we will determine the next technical step.
